Who is Waterloo Regional REACT?
Waterloo Regional REACT is a volunteer organization made up of regular citizens just like you! Established in 1972, our organization has developed a strong professional relationship with the emergency services, event organizers and the community alike.
With a near total of 4,000 man-hours every year, REACT continues to take pride in the highly professional service it offers. Within this overwhelming number of strictly volunteer hours, members of the organization have provided, and continue to provide, coverage in the following areas: communications, first aid, scene lighting, crowd control, patient and emergency service transportation, manpower and many other services depending on the needs of the situation.
One of the most successful services we offer is our Scene Lighting Program, which became a vital role in motor vehicle investigations, rescue operations, as well as nighttime fire scenes. In 2019, Waterloo Regional REACT had to a total of approximately 20 emergency responses. Of those emergency responses, approximately 95% of them required the use of our Scene Lighting Units (SLUs). In the end, there is no other volunteer organization quite as unique as Waterloo Regional REACT in the region of Waterloo that continues to provide such a wide range of professional service and assistance to the emergency services. We owe our success to our members - the volunteers who make these services possible!
