Waterloo Regional REACT owns, operates and maintains various pieces of equipment that is utilized at a wide variety of events and emergency scenes to assist in things such as patient transport, patient access, search and rescue, recovery, imagery, transportation, communications and much more!

Command centre

 Waterloo Regional REACT Command Centre is usually the center of all communications during scheduled events and emergency situations. Not only does REACT utilize the Command Centre, but it is designed specifically to assist and accommodate the needs of the Police, Fire and Paramedic services.   With it's cross service communications equipment, central work and meeting area, the Command Centre is fully equipped to provide on-scene communications coverage for any event or emergency situation in any weather condition / season. Waterloo Regional REACT has recently purchased a brand new command centre, as well as updated their Command Centre with new technology including  television screen, Wi-Fi, and lastly, updated computer and radio communications systems. The Command Centre is an excellent resource not only for REACT, but the emergency services as well. ​

Scene lighting units

The Scene Lighting Units are one of the most valuable and important pieces of equipment owned by the organization. These two identical units send large beams of light that can spread across three football fields, these high powered lighting systems were introduced and are still used today to help the police conduct accident and/or other investigations at nighttime incidents. Providing scene lighting has been and continues to be a very successful service provided by Waterloo Regional REACT. Having recently replaced one of the older units, REACT now owns two identical SLUs that are extremely beneficial due to their capability to light up extremely large areas or permits us to be at two different scenes at the same time if required. Along with the larger units, handheld halogen lights are also used to light specific areas.

 The Rescue Argo provides a unique service to the public and emergency services through its all-terrain capabilities and its ability to transport patients safely from various locations. Its versatility is truly amazing, starting with the number 9A stretcher that it has on board, which is the same model used by EMS which means the patient can be transferred easily from the Argo to a waiting Ambulance. The stretcher unit locks into place in a customized Argo stretcher mount. When the Argo is mobile with a patient, the patient in fully secured with straps. The stretcher mount is removable to allow more space for equipment, personnel, or to reduce the weight of the vehicle for situations such as ice rescues and transporting the emergency services personnel to remote locations. The Argo is also an amphibious vehicle, meaning it can travel on land as well as in water, making it the ideal vehicle for ice rescues. This vehicle is proven to be a great asset to the organization through its ability to transport patients through crowds with ease using its emergency lighting and warning systems, which is very useful at events such as the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival, where there are large crowds.

DIGITAL ENCRYPTED RADIO SYSTEM *new*

Waterloo Regional REACT has purchased new radios, that will be placed into circulation and service in the coming year(s) with the launch of a new digital encrypted radio system being implemented. More information to come later in 2020/2021!

The REACT Ford F-150 Utility Vehicle is one of the newer vehicles to the organization. This vehicle is used for various tasks including towing equipment to and from events and emergency scenes, coverage at various events and member transportation to various locations during events or emergency scenes. The back is where pieces of equipment such as generators, traffic cones, hand held lighting units and tools are kept.
